Summary	Unit History of the 31st Battalion AIF in the Great War, 1915-1919. The 31st Battalion served in Egypt prior to travelling to the Western Front as part of the 8th Brigade of the 5th Division, AIF. They served in the disastrous battle of Fromelles, in the trenches of Houplines, Flers, Bapaume and the Third battle of Ypres, then at Polygon Wood.
