Written on back of print: 117452PD: Nyabing sports Oct 12, 1918. The finish of the horse race won by a local horse that had been on grass all winter & was brought straight in from the paddock to race. 117453PD: Just after the start in the horse race. The school is just visible on the left. 117454PD: Tossing a 12lb sheaf, wrapped in sacking, over a bar. The winning throw. Won by Bill Hobley, a local man. 117455PD: In the earlier stages of the tossing the sheaf competition. 117456PD: Some of the crowd lining th race-course. Notice the back of the policeman, out from Katanning for the day. 117457PD: The Old Buffers Race. 117458PD: The school in which tea was provided practically all day. To the left a shelter in which a roaring trade was done in soft drinks, lollies & oranges. 117459PD: The winner of the Farmers' race. One of the conditions was that the winner should pull a ton a specified distance. This is the ton. |
