Summary The cottage originally built for Ensign Dale in 1832 next to the photographer's home Alpha Cottage which was at what is now 16 St Georges Terrace, Perth. A photograph of the front of Dale Cottage is found in an album by A.H. Stone given to his daughter Fanny available online at call number 6909B/57. The image at 6923B/94 is found published in several sources and captioned as "Perth's first Post Office". Robert Dale had left Western Australia in 1833 and it is possible that his cottage was used as the Post Office from this date.
