Summary
John Wager discusses his early years, and schooling. He attended Subiaco State School, Perth Modern and studied engineering at the University of Western Australia. His academic career spanned 40 years with UWA and during that time he was actively involved in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering research- established the UWA Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Laboratory; developed units in manufacturing design/operational research and linear programming/Statistical Quality Control in manufacturing/introduced new methods of manufacture/ industrial safety/ Metrology; Invited member of CIRP (Collège international pour la recherche en productique). He also talks about - Fremantle Harbour during World War 11; apprenticeship with the English Electric Company; Vesuvius Company (Scotland) and continuous casting of steel.
