| Summary |
John Lewis discusses his childhood, family life and education; cadetship with WA Public Works Department and after completing a Masters at the Imperial College became engineer in charge of Planning and Design at the Department; working for Halpern, Glick & Lewis. He also worked as consultant and then formed his own consultancy business; changes in the engineering work environment and productivity issues. Talks about the range and involvement with many engineering projects and developments - gas piplines, alternative energy projects (tidal, solar, gas turbines), dam construction, gas recovery, ethylene production, Gorgon, Barrow Island, Ord Dam, Kwinana desalination plant, University of WA Hydraulic Research Station, design of ports and harbours. |
