Summary
M. McCann was a prospector who claimed to have found gold near Lake Cowan. About 100 men rushed to the place only to find nothing. Back in Coolgardie they burned an effigy of the man. It is reported in the Coolgardie Miner of 4 July, p.3b and the Coolgardie Pioneer of 10 July, p.10a.
