Summary Brenda was born Brenda Fountain, at Tresillian Hospital Nedlands, W.A., in 1937. She grew up in Nedlands, contracting Polio in 1944, which she survived after hospitalisation. Her recovery was long- eventually she had a knee splint to help her walk. Indirectly this influenced her to become a physiotherapist; she was accepted into the Physio course at UWA in 1955. Upon graduation she worked in Royal Perth Hospital for a year, before choosing to work with children and physically handicapped people. She has worked with and for many organisations in these fields: the Cerebral Palsy Association of W.A. and the Spastic Welfare Association of W.A., for instance. She discusses her career and the people and events, experiences and accomplishments of her life in working for disabled people.
