Biography/history |
Emeritus Professor Joseph William Henry Lugg, Foundation Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Western Australia (UWA) first obtained his honours degree in 1928, his Master of Science degree in 1931 and in 1934, he was conferred as a Doctor of Science by the University of Western Australia. In 1937, he was awarded the Leverhulme research fellowship. |
Summary |
Professor J. W. H. Lugg shares his childhood memories of his school days in Boulder and University of Western Australia (UWA). He talks about his academic mentors, Dr George Elliott, Prof. Tattersall and Prof. Wilsmore, his research and scholarly achievements. He worked in Adelaide as a research officer at CSIR on proteins of other green plants, i.e. photosynthesising tissues of green plants. He talks about his days at the University of Melbourne and how he applied and got the Chair of Biochemistry at the King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore in 1948.
