Summary Frank Gamblen, an associate professor of the Department of Mathematics and the first sub-dean of the Faculty of Arts at University of Western Australia, talks about his early life, education and career at University of Western Australia. He also shares his memory of the construction of the Crawley campus and his study leave to visit various United States universities and was the Visiting Professor at Kansas for a semester in 1957. At the end of the final semester in 1963, Prof. Gamblen also spent his long vacation lecturing at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. In 1967 he went on another study leave to Drexel University to spend a semester there. In 1961, he was appointed to the senate and he shares his experience of being in tghe Buildings Committee during the period when the new Arts Building was built. He reminisces how he used to go to Prof. Edwards' home in the evening when he was living at St George's College to read the male parts of the plays.
