Summary |
Prof Saint narrates his early days in England and going to Durham University and graduating with a medical and a medical science degree in 1942. He talks about joining the air force during WWII as a medical officer. While back in Newcastle in 1946, he shares how while doing research on occupational diseases of coal miners, he came upon asbestosis in Western Australia and decided to take up a contract at Port Hedland. Prof Eric Saint recalls how he went on to Melbourne after that and returned to work in Perth Royal Hospital in 1953 and the difficulties in setting up a medical shool in WA in the early days. |
