Biography/history |
Captain John Molloy was a W.A. pioneer settler. A veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, he married Georgiana Kennedy in 1829 and they emigrated to the Swan River Colony in 1830. Pioneer settler at Augusta where he was appointed Resident Magistrate and JP. In 1839 moved to Vasse where he built the homestead "Fairlawn". After his death in 1867, the property was bought by Richard Gale. Georgiana Molloy was a pioneer and amateur botanist. The Molloys and the few other settlers in Augusta and Vasse areas had a hard life trying to establish themselves in this new land isolated from the outside world. Georgiana enjoyed her garden and came to appreciate the local wildflowers. |
