Summary Lois Quadesmith is the daughter of Hedley William Wright (1897-1984) and Hope May Wright (1896-1975), better known as Brother and Sister Wright. She discusses the work of her parents with the Aboriginal people of Gnowangerup and surrounding districts from the 1920s to the late 1940s. She briefly discusses her mother's time at the Carrolup settlement near Katanning in the early 1920s. After her parents marriage in 1926 they undertook support work with the Noongar people at the Gnowangerup Government Reserve. In the mid 1930s they purchased land east of Gnowangerup and established a mission in association with the United Aborigines Mission where they continued until 1948. Lois explains her parent's desire to see the Noongars develop pride in themselves when they were given few rights in the community. She depicts their philosophy of giving practical help while teaching Christian principles and the skills needed to improve their living standards. After leaving the mission her parents continued to live in Gnowangerup and assisted the Noongar people for the rest of their lives. She discusses the overall outcome and the positives and negatives of their work. The transcript includes a table of contents.
