Summary |
Dondon Malith a Sudanese refugee also known as one of the “lost boys of Sudan” Dondon makes me tea in his lounge room at Renmark St Balgatta. Dondon has studied Politics and international Studies at Murdoch University in WA Tuesday 25th September 2012. Home of Mrs Angong Marial Mamal, Balga Rd, Balga. Mrs Angong Marial is dressed in black with her 2 children Alilic Marial and Aruai. . Friends from her community visited Mrs Angong before they attended the funeral of a relative who died in Sudan 4 day previously. I was informed during my visit that the formal lounges area of the house (with the red couches) was the area where the men gather. Mrs Angong arrived in Australia in 2005 from Kakuma Refugee camp in the North- Eastern Kenya, she is “happy to settle here in Australia with her new life”. Angong is from the Dinka tribe one of Sudan’s largest ethnic groups. Tuesday 25th September 2012 - Louise Whelan. |
