Biography/history In 1974, initiated as a card index of people who lived in Western Australia prior to 1914. It comprised entries submitted by the public of family trees and histories. These formed the basis of a series of Dictionaries of Western Australians.

Files of information and documents submitted to general editor Dr. Rica Erickson for the compilation of the "Dictionary of Western Australians", including convict information used in v. 2, "Bond 1850-1868". The sources include family records, memoirs, church records, cemetery records, newspapers, diaries, government gazettes, almanacks, directories, census lists, shipping notes and passenger arrivals. With 2 typescripts of parts of the index. Jan Young's records consist of cemetery transcriptions and transcriptions on births, deaths and marriages, particularly those relating to the Avon Valley (Toodyay, Northam and York districts). [Often referred to as WABI]. Correspondence from the public with corrections to the dictionaries.
