Biography/history |
Established in 1911 as the Coastal Dock, River and Harbour Works Union. After a period of de-registration from 1952-1955, the Union emerged as the Federated Ship Painters' and Dockers' Union of Australia, Western Australia Branch. In 1971, the name of the union changed to the Maritime Workers Union. In 1987, the union amalgamated with the Seamen's Union of Australia on a federal level. |
