Biography/history This dictionary was compiled by Rica Erickson based on the Western Australian Biographical Index files. Volume 1 was compiled by Pamela Statham. Later a 8-volumes Bicentennial Dictionary was published to commemorate Bicentenary Australia celebrarions in 1988. The first 4 volumes are compiled based on this 5-volumes dictionary. With additional volumes 5 to 8 and different compilers, Asian Immigrants to Western Australia 1829-1901, compiled by Anne Aitkinson (1988); Aborigines of the Albany Region 1821-1888, compiled by Neville Green (1989); Aborigines of New Norcia 1845-1914 compiled by Neville Green and Lois Tilbrook (1989); Aborigines of the South West Region compiled by Sylvia Hallam and Lois Tilbrook (1990). Later, Volume 9 entitled: Convicts in Western Australia 1850-1887 (1994) and Volume 10 entitled: Far From Home - Aboriginal Prisoners of Rottnest Island (1997) were published and renamed under series title Dictionary of Western Australians, Rica Erickson was the general editor.
