"Miss Deane's index, filmed by the Mitchell Library Sydney (reference CY2452 % Micro Ref. Books 2.2CO/4) is arranged chronologically, but with several sections for each year. She has indexed alphabetically by name of letter writer only, with a prećis of the letter contents and noting names of persons mentioned therein. The drawback for researchers, therefore, was the fact that in a large number of cases they would be seeking a reference to the named persons, not the writer. Pastkeys has now compiled a composite index of all names and indicated the AJCP/PRO Reel on which the letters are located. Also included are any ships mentioned in the letters with a cross-reference to the letter writer."--Introduction. |
