Summary He talks about his early life and his schooling in Cottesloe Beach now Mosman Park. Then he went to Applecross Primary School and North Perth and Victoria Park and Carlisle and Perth Boys' School and won a scholarship to Perth Modern School. 1925, he took the leaving examinations and entered University of Western Australia in 1926 studying agriculture. He talks about Irwin Street and Crawley campus. He talks about subjects he has to take, veterinary science. He became a cadet for the W.A. Department of Agriculture in 1927 while studying at UWA. He graduated with honours in 1931. He worked at the Department of Agriculture, Kimberley Research Station, soil survey at Salmon Gums and Denmark. He finished his Masters degree at the University of Adelaide. His research was often published in the Technical Bulletin (Western Australia Department of Agriculture). He was also the editor for the publication, Agriculture in Western Australia: 150 years of development and achievement, 1829-1979 published by the University of Western Australia Press for the Education Committee of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations, 1979. He shares how the Department wrote to Mary Durack for a name of the place when they carried out the soil survey and she named it, Cununurra and the soil was called Cununurra clay and later the place was named Kununurra.
