Biography/history
William Sykes was a convict transported for life to W.A. in 1867 after a manslaughter conviction. He worked in the Toodyay area. The letters were found in 1931 at Toodyay Gaol in a kangaroo skin pouch in a nook of a wall in one of the cells.
